Streams require room to move within protective riparian (stream-side vegetation) floodplain corridors. We take the long view for cost-effective stream restoration strategies that bring streams into that "sweet spot" where equilibrium can be achieved and self-maintained.
Successful water-related infrastructure requires a deeper understanding of land and water resources to avoid costly SNAFUs. We make our site assessments carefully and in phases to best guide design, permitting, and construction. Minor adjustments early in project development often pay off in terms of predictability, budgeting, and safety. Projects include water and sanitation systems, water crossings, docks, and boathouses.
This blog gives me the freedom to write about broader water-related topics for which I care deeply but go beyond typical GES project work. Keep scrolling down to learn more about the science behind watershed restoration, especially stream corridors!
Watershed restoration is not rocket science, but it does require honest evaluation of our woodlands, streams corridors, and lakes. Join me and local citizen scientists as we dive deeper into our marvelous watershed world and help shape our Colorado Headwater future.
